Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent. It is a major birthplace of human civilisation and the world's fastest-growing and most dynamic region. However, due to the impacts of urban development, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and armed conflicts, cultural heritage properties across Asia face unprecedented challenges.
Echoing the Asian Initiative for Cultural Heritage Conservation, the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation created the Asia Cultural Heritage Fund in 2022. In collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism in UNESCO Designated Sites, The Department of Tourism, Fudan University, School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus is proud to organise the 2024 Asia Cultural Heritage Conservation & Utilization Proposal Video Pitch.
The proposal video pitch aims to inspire Asian youth to advance the conservation and utilisation of cultural heritage by creatively employing local wisdom. By harnessing the wisdom of our forebears, they are encouraged to innovatively design new approaches, tools, and measures for conserving cultural heritage. Furthermore, this event convenes university students from diverse countries, ethnicities, universities, and academic disciplines to engage in discussions centered on protecting and utilising cultural heritage. It aims to facilitate the development of a network for cultural heritage education in Asian countries, enhance cross-cultural communication and understanding, promote the exchange and mutual learning of civilisations, and contribute to the establishment of a community with a shared future for Asia.
